Trapping and hunting are valuable arts to provide us with food in emergency situations. However, they are also time-consuming, energy-consuming and not infrequently crowned with failure. Insects, on the other hand, are easy to catch, available in large numbers and can be found almost everywhere. Many consist of a high proportion of valuable proteins and often exceed the protein content of a comparable amount of meat. A combination of wild plants, wild fruits, insects and small animals allows for a complete and functioning emergency diet in extreme situations.
